The 5 Best Thai Restaurants in Belfast for Your Cravings

Authenticity - We looked for restaurants that honor traditional Thai flavors.

Menu Variety - Thai cuisine is more than pad thai, so we sought places that have a good mix of curries, stir fry, salads, and more.

Value for Money - We considered prices, portion sizes, and overall dining experience.

Customer Experience - Reviews from real diners matter. We chose places that have customer feedback on the service, atmosphere, and consistency.

Thai cuisine hits all the senses: sweet, sour, salty, spicy, and umami. Luckily for us, Belfast has built a reputation as a city where you can find some seriously good Thai food.

Thai restaurants are abundant in Belfast. Some are family-owned small eateries with recipes passed down through generations, some are upscale modern dining experiences, while others are just simple restaurants that give you the right amount of satisfaction without all the drama.

We’ve spent time exploring, tasting, and asking around to find spots that locals rave about and visitors remember long after their trip. The list ahead highlights restaurants that stand out, so you’d know where to go whenever you’re craving Thai cuisine.

1. Thai Village

Business Hours: Open daily except Mondays, 5:30PM to 10PM

Thai Village has been a go-to for Belfast locals for years, and stepping inside feels a little like walking into a friend’s home. It’s warm, softly lit, and just the right amount of bustling.

The pad Thai here sticks in your memory: noodles perfectly coated in tamarind sauce, sprinkled with crushed peanuts, and balanced with just the right tang of lime. Their green curry is another star, rich and fragrant with coconut milk but never overwhelming.

Many diners say it’s the first place they truly “got” Thai food–not watered down, but approachable enough to enjoy no matter your spice tolerance.

The service adds to the charm as well. Staff are attentive, and they’re more than happy to suggest dishes based on your preferences.

However, others also note that there are small dining rooms, so unless you book ahead, you might be slightly disappointed to find the place packed.

But if you did book ahead, then you’re in luck! Regulars say it’s this personal touch that keeps them coming back as much as the food itself.

Pros

  • Reliable flavors
  • Generous portions
  • Attentive service

Cons

  • Small dining room

Will definitely be back to try more

I was positively surprised by this little gem I passed by so often walking down the street, before I finally decide to try out. I’m far from being an expert of Thai cuisine so take this review with discretion. The setting is private and cozy, perfect for a romantic dinner. The food, although maybe not the cheapest compared to other Thai restaurants in the area, was a league above. Some of the most succulent prawns I had in Belfast and probably the best wontons I ever had. Will definitely be back to try more.

Phenomenal Thai dishes and great servings

Phenomenal Thai dishes and great servings!! I was blown away by the authenticity of the dishes and just how delicious everything was. The decor in the restaurant is absolutely gorgeous and the staff are pleasant. It looks like a small hole in the wall from the outside but inside transports you to Thailand from the statutes and paintings, smells and overall cuisine! Enjoy!

Bo Tree Kitchen is often described as Belfast’s hidden gem for Thai food. Tucked away on Dublin Road, it’s a restaurant you might walk past if you didn’t know better–but once you’ve eaten here, it’s impossible to forget.

The green curry is legendary. It’s creamy without being heavy, with fresh herbs and fiery chili that wake up every bite. Their pad kra pao (stir-fried basil chicken) is another highlight, especially if you’re craving bold, punchy flavors.

Unlike restaurants that try to please every palate by toning down heat, Bo Tree keeps things honest–though they’ll happily tweak spice levels if asked.

Some clients mention the limited seating capacity and the high demand for bookings. It’s always best to book ahead of time.

However, once you’re there, you’ll notice that another part of the fun is that it’s BYOB (Bring Your Own Bottle), so dinners often turn up with a bottle of crisp white wine or a couple of beers, making the atmosphere lively and communal.

Pros

  • True-to-Thai flavors
  • BYOB

Cons

  • Limited seating
  • Often fully booked

Food was [pretty] tasty

Food was pretty tasty. Very busy atmosphere and staff were run off their feet trying to take care of everyone. Still, they squeezed me in, which was nice. I had the vegetarian fried rice and mango sticky rice for dessert, both of which were good.

All of them are delicious

Enjoyed the Gai Pad Kapaow Chicken with jasmine rice. It was pretty spicy but full of loads of flavour and received a fairly generous portion. We had the Tempura prawn, spring rolls and the satay skewers to start all of them were delicious. There are so many great Asian eatery options in Belfast now but this is right up there

3. Thaitanic Cuisine

With a name like Thaitanic, this Lisburn Road favorite doesn’t take itself too seriously, but the food speaks volumes. The restaurant is vibrant and relaxed, with colorful decor and a lively crowd most evenings.

It’s a spot that manages to balance a bit of humor with seriously good cooking. But of course, given the humorous, loud vibe this place is going for, it might be too noisy for the average person, especially during peak hours.

The menu is broad, offering everything from comforting curries to spicy stir-fries. The red curry and chicken satay skewers are especially popular, while vegetarians rave about the tofu dishes.

Service is friendly and laid-back, adding to the charm. It’s the kind of place where you’ll pop in for a casual dinner and end up staying longer than planned, because it’s so fun.

Pros

  • Fun atmosphere
  • Good value
  • Broad menu

Cons

  • Can get noisy during peak hours

Good dishes for a reasonable price

Nice small takeaway or eat in Thai restaurant. Good dishes for a reasonable price. I had the sweet and sour chicken. Delicious. The restaurants is small, and a little sticky, but other than that good for a fast diner and good food. Service is fast and friendly. Definitely recommend it.

Very authentic Thai food

Just had the starter platter for 2, the Massaman curry and Pad Kee Mao. All was piping hot and delicious and very authentic Thai food. Huge portions as well so got to take some home for breakfast! Both ladies there were very friendly and chatted to us about our trip to Belfast. Lovely little restaurant and well worth a visit if you fancy Thai food

The Golden Elephant is one of those restaurants that locals rave about. Tucked along Lisburn Road, it’s not the flashiest spot in the city, but the food speaks for itself.

The menu is steeped in traditional Thai recipes: rich curries, wok-fried noodles, and fragrant soups. The red curry is a standout, but their pad see ew (stir-fried noodles with soy and greens) is a favorite, with clients calling it “comforting.”

Portions are generous, but more than that, every dish tastes consistent no matter where you go. Inside, the restaurant has a cozy, family-run atmosphere.

This means that the overall feel of the place is homey, but it’s nothing flashy (and possibly too plain) if you’re there for “Instagram” pics.

Service is thoughtful, with the staff happy to walk you through the menu if you’re not sure where to start.

Pros

  • Authentic Thai flavors
  • Welcoming service

Cons

  • Plain interior

This place is so authentic

We absolutely cleaned our plates!! This was the best and tastiest pineapple rice ever!! I spend a lot of time every year in Thailand and I can tell you this place is so authentic. Amazing food, amazing staff!!

Brilliant place for a cheap, good quality lunch menu

Have been here for lunch a few times and it is a brilliant place for a cheap, good quality lunch menu. I have had the pad Thai and the Thai yellow curry. Both were lovely and well worth the £11. Included in that price is a started and a coffee/tea

Chang Noi, tucked away on Albertbridge Road, is one of those restaurants that feels like a hidden gem. The space is intimate, with warm lighting and just enough Thai-inspired decor to transport you, without going over the top.

Many diners call it their “neighborhood Thai” because it feels like a cozy restaurant from your local village.

The menu sticks to tradition, offering classics like tom yum soup, panang curry, and pad see ew, all cooked with care and depth of flavor.

Clients love the attention to detail. The curries here are layered and fragrant, the stir-fries crisp and vibrant, and the service is consistently praised as warm and welcoming. However, like most beautiful places that have good service, this one has limited seating options, so always book ahead.

Pros

  • Authentic flavors
  • Intimate setting
  • Excellent service

Cons

  • Limited seating

Everything was made right then and so fresh

We’re visiting from the States and were lucky to find this charming restaurant near our lodging. The staff was super friendly and had our food out quickly. We got street boxes: green curry with tofu and vegetables and Penang curry with chicken. The veggies were cooked just the right amount and the sauce and rice were the perfect texture. Everything was made right then and so fresh. Perfect level of spice too!

Best Thai place for sure!

This place is amazing! Everything is absolutely delicious and fresh! Never disappoints ✨️ flavours are just perfect and the spicy dishes are incredible! The Laos salad is so different and refreshing 😋 and the tom yum soup is the best I ever had!

Best Thai place for sure! Staff is also very friendly and kind.
