Swing into fun at these 4 awesome indoor golf spots in Belfast

Okay, so I’m trying to get my golf game up to scratch, right? But honestly, the weather in Belfast has other plans. One minute, it’s sunny, and the next, it’s pouring—it makes getting consistent practice on a real course almost impossible.

So, I did some digging (and a little swinging indoors myself) and found some absolute gems. I’ve rounded up awesome indoor golf spots in Belfast where you can perfect your swing, no matter what the sky’s doing. Keep reading to find your new golfing escape!

1. The Lost City Adventure Golf

Operating hours: 10 AM–10 PM

Lost City Adventure Golf has two 18-hole courses, but they are unique because they’re all wrapped in an “Inca” theme. So, you’ll be like Indiana Jones playing golf indoors! How fun is that?

When you enter the arena, it looks more like a jungle or a rainforest than a golf course. I love the relics, creatures, and greenery you can see at every turn. But it doesn’t end there. You can also hear sounds from the jungle as if leading to a hidden treasure.

Of course, the mini-golf also has special effects and water features on different levels. Once, I even had to hit the ball through a waterfall just to get it to the hole. And when you get a “hole-in-one,” the whole place turns into a mini dance party!

I love going here every weekend or summer with my family and friends. Some workers do their team-building here, so it’s a great place for friendly competition, no matter your age.

Pro tip:

A must-try experience unique to The Lost City is their “Hole-in-One Challenge” on the 18th hole. If you sink that elusive hole-in-one, you could win prizes like free games or discounts on food and drinks!

2. ScrapYard Golf

Operating hours: 2–10 PM

ScrapYard Golf is another unique indoor golf course. It has a whimsical indoor adventure theme. I’m talking about hitting the ball through windmills and other funny obstacles.

They have a 21-hole course, each with a quirky theme. I remember having to hit a ball under an ambulance and through a microglider that was swooping overhead. You should also look out for their playful slogans on the golf course. They’ll crack you up!

This place was designed by award-winning Americans. Now, I understand why it’s fun, quirky, and challenging. That’s why I love the friendly competitions held here almost every weekend.

The staff is also friendly. When we entered, they handed us scorecards and colorful golf balls. There was even a little Mini Cooper where they made us pick our golf clubs! It was a total experience that made me feel like a kid again.

Pro tip:

A must-try experience here is their bonus hole challenge—a unique feature that adds an exciting twist to your game. Players get to test their skills in this special hole after completing the main course, making it a memorable part of your visit.

Colin Glen’s Indoor TrackMan Suite is one of its kind in Northern Ireland. I recommend this to all the golf enthusiasts out there. For starters, you’ll be greeted with the latest TrackMan technology.

Here, you can choose from over 100 world-class golf courses. Of course, I had to try playing at the Royal County Down and Royal Portrush. And I didn’t have to worry about the Irish weather ruining the game!

I love its user-friendly interface, especially when it provides real-time analytics and performance breakdowns. They analyze my swing and even give me tips on improving my shots. It’s great for noobs like me to practice my golfing skills.

When I got better, I had to invite my friends and engage in friendly competition. They have interactive games like Bullseye and Capture the Flag, which brought out our competitive side!

Pro tip:

This place is available by appointment only; no walk-ins are permitted. If you have a birthday coming up or know someone who does, they offer customizable party packages.

Operating hours: 8 AM–10 PM

With the unpredictable Irish weather, the Golf Rooms have become our new indoor golf hangout. Inside, they’ve got simulators that make us feel like we’re actually in the fairway of iconic golf courses around the globe.

I tried teeing off at St. Andrews and Pebble Beach and booked an hour on the simulator. The game was so lifelike. The game’s graphics, sounds, and feel made me feel like I was outdoors!

They’ve got seven award-winning Golfzon simulators! They also have tailored programs with instructors to help you improve your game. I tried one of these; they didn’t intimidate me and were patient with breaking the moves to refine my swing.

The best part is that the first indoor golf club gives you access to a real 18-hole outdoor course right next door. So, whatever the weather is or your mood, you can easily play golf indoors or outdoors.

Pro tip:

A must-try event unique to The Golf Rooms is their “Golf & Gourmet” evenings, during which guests can enjoy a round of virtual golf followed by a curated dining experience featuring local cuisine.
