I think these 5 personal trainers in Belfast are worth the sweat!

  • Quality of Service: I selected Belfast personal trainers who are known to be reliable in every way, considering their effectiveness and efficiency in assisting clients to reach their fitness goals.
  • Reputation: The chosen coaches are highly reputable based on numerous client testimonials and comments online.
  • Professionalism: It was a priority for me that the workout trainers are reliable in terms of their punctuality. They must also be respectful and reliable every step of the way.
  • Communication: These trainers are approachable and responsive, as well as considerate when providing their clients with feedback.
  • Range of Services: I picked fitness mentors offering a broad range of services, such as weight loss, strength training, nutrition support, and the like.
  • Facilities and Equipment: For me, it helps if the personal trainer works at a modern gym with a clean and safe environment, as well as well-maintained machines. Online coaches are the exception to this rule.
  • Accessibility: These workout trainers are flexible with their scheduling. This helps provide their clients with a convenient experience suitable for their lifestyle.
  • Value for Money: Affordability was a priority, but I also considered body transformation coaches who can justify their fees and packages.

Can’t stand workout coaches offering fitness programmes that sound too good to be true? I’ve fallen victim to that once. As a food guru who’s also a food blogger, it’s a no-brainer that I eat a LOT. I have to—it’s both my work and my hobby.

But the harder it was to squeeze into my pants, the more I thought this was getting out of hand. I did loads of research about weight loss and healthy nutrition, which made me a fitness enthusiast. Still, I knew I needed someone to properly guide me.

Luckily, I eventually found some experienced and capable ones. No matter if you’re a beginner, busy professional, work-from-home employee, new mum, or senior, I’ve reviewed some top-rated personal trainers in Belfast below who can help.

How much do personal trainers charge in Belfast?

Personal trainers in Belfast will set you back between £25 and £50 per hour, depending on their experience, type of training, service packages, location, and frequency.

RML Fitness is a company founded by Ruairí McLaughlin, an online personal trainer based in Belfast, who focuses on fast-tracking body transformations.

I believe the best thing about online workout coaches in general is that they’re available anywhere in the world. They’re usually more affordable too, given that you’ll likely work out in your own space with your own gear.

This trainer also completed a Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science, which makes me feel more confident about his skills and knowledge.

Moreover, I like that he’s detail-oriented and targets specific client needs. You can expect a custom, results-focused training and nutrition plan based on your lifestyle, work, fitness goals, stress level, quality of sleep, hydration, and the like.

In my book, his cost transparency is a plus too! His prices start from €7 per day for full-time online personal training. He doesn’t require any gym membership eitherl.

On top of that, I appreciate his weekly personalised feedback to ensure progress is being made. For me, this is great if you don’t like being micromanaged. But at the same time, you’ll get healthy, friendly nudges to keep going.

It’s also handy for me that there’s round-the-clock support via in-app messenger or WhatsApp, so you can always get answers—no matter how dumb you think your fitness question is!

However, I feel this option might not work for those who need greater motivation with an in-person trainer. Some might truly need someone physically present to assist them with their sessions.

Pros

  • Available anywhere
  • Cheaper than in-person trainers
  • Upfront pricing
  • No gym membership needed
  • 24/7 customer support

Cons

  • Not for those who prefer in-person accountability

Top-Class Expertise

“I had a great time working with Ruairí. His expertise is top class and all of my sessions were clear and easy to follow. Very approachable and consistently checked in to see how things were going. Would highly recommend to anyone”

-Mr. Eoghan O’ Doherty, Google Review

Benefitted Hugely from His Knowledge

“Ruairí has helped me for the past 3 months with a fitness program, nutrition advice and has been in regular contact. I have benefitted hugely from his knowledge and would recommend him to anyone trying to lose weight, build muscle or just simply improve your fitness. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole program from start to finish.”

Looking for the ultimate female empowerment? Lifted by Laura is a Belfast personal trainer who helps women lose their fear of building muscle and strength.

PT Laura caters to clients who want to lose weight more strategically. Her way is by building habits that stick with you in the long run, which I’m all for. This applies to her tailored 1-on-1 sessions, nutrition plans, and progress tracking.

Her Glute Camp highlights small group training too. In my opinion, this is great for finding camaraderie with other women without getting overlooked by the trainer.

Besides eating well and smashing out that cardio, I find it interesting that she encourages women to aim for a wider, more defined upper body. She says this can create an illusion of a smaller waist and an hourglass physique.

It’s also admirable to me that she helps clients have a better relationship with eating. For her, food shouldn’t be a reward, but your fuel—something you need to be a better version of yourself.

She offers both in-person and online options as well, making her more accessible. In my view, this helps clients become consistent.

But of course, Laura has built a female-focused community. Though men aren’t necessarily unwelcome, they aren’t exactly her target audience. You can also suggest this for your mum, sister, significant other, or friends.

Pros

  • Female-focused empowerment approach
  • Encourages muscle-strength training
  • Promotes a positive relationship with food
  • Available both online and in person

Cons

  • Not ideal for men

Makes Sessions Enjoyable

“Laura is a great PT that will amend the plan to suit your needs and goals she’s also very down to earth and makes sessions enjoyable”

-Ms. Klaudia Haluszka, Google Review

Genuinely Cares

“Laura is a fantastic trainer. I couldn’t recommend her enough. I would never have gotten these results by myself. She genuinely cares about your progress and is always cheering you on. Best decision I ever made choosing Laura as my pt.”

The ECA Belfast Gym is known for its 6-week transformation programme to make people leaner, fitter, and more confident.

And what I love about this package is that you won’t have to do mind-numbing amounts of cardio. Instead, you’ll get fun strength and conditioning workouts so you never feel like it’s all just suffering.

Also, I find it handy that once you agree to its 1-on-1 gym meeting and an InBody scan, you’ll receive a complimentary session! This ensures you’ll get the right fit with low financial risk.

Other than that, you’ll get to join 3 small group personal training sessions, access to high-intensity sweat sessions, nutrition plans by a qualified nutritionist, and weekly check-ins.

This programme is also ideal, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced athlete. It’s incredible to me that the team can adapt to the injured too! That way, anyone can reach their goals, regardless of any physical shortcomings.

Nonetheless, note that this training facility can easily get fully booked. If you prefer a specific trainer, I reckon it’s not guaranteed that he or she will still be available.

Pros

  • 6-week programme with a high success rate
  • Great for those who hate cardio
  • Caters to all skill levels and abilities

Cons

  • Limited slots for preferred coaches

INTENT Gym is a specialist personal training (PT) facility in Belfast known for its 6-week Get A Grip Challenge.

With this package, you’ll get 18 group PT sessions and 12 sweat sessions, which are basically a combo of strength training and conditioning to burn fat and build lean muscle.

There are other features too, like a personal nutrition plan, goal-specific training, and a dedicated success coach. You’ll also join weekly yoga sessions or get access to the private gym as a member.

This all comes in a package that costs £600. It’s a bit expensive for some. But considering each of these offerings costs more when purchased individually, I think it’s a good deal.

And besides small group sessions, it offers 1-on-1 personal training and online coaching. This is why, for me, the team is flexible enough for most preferences and budgets.

Just keep in mind that its small group sessions can have limited availability depending on demand.

Pros

  • Comprehensive small group package
  • Highly structured timeframe for clear results
  • Good value for money

Cons

  • Limited slots for small group sessions

Fun, Engaging Sessions

“Brilliant few months with the intent team as I looked to find balance with my strength training while prepping for Belfast marathon. Fun sessions keep you engaged and consistent and the teams positivity and knowledge helped me take it up a few levels!”

-Mr. George Morris, Google Review

Welcoming, Supportive, and Genuinely Caring

“I’ve been training at intent for the past 10 months and can honestly say it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made for my health and wellbeing.  The coaches are really welcoming, supportive and genuinely care about each member’s progress.  It’s a great environment for all levels, even for beginners like me.  They’ve taught me so much about fitness and nutrition, I feel motivated to go to each class and it never feels like a chore. Amazing gym! Highly recommend.”

HENCH offers expert fitness coaching in Belfast through personalised programming and 1-on-1 personal training on and off the gym floor.

From the get-go, I find its location convenient since it’s right at the junction of South Belfast and East Belfast. It’s beside St. George’s Market—very accessible to many.

There’s plenty of parking and artisan establishments nearby too! I bet you can easily get a pre-session cup of oe whenever you feel like it.

Also, it offers 3 kinds of membership that I believe suit all skill levels: beginners, intermediate lifters, and experienced lifters. Beginners get 13 personal training sessions per month, nutrition guidance, detailed progress analysis, and the like.

Plus, I appreciate that you can get reserved equipment, so there are no waiting times. For me, this lets you get the most out of your sessions.

I noticed that there are many open schedules as well—there are about 80 different timetabled training slots from Monday to Saturday every week! If something comes up last minute, I reckon you can easily cancel or move your session with ease.

Still, this option goes hard on strength training. If you prefer cardio-heavy programmes, I feel this might not be for you.

Pros

  • Strategic central location
  • Flexible scheduling
  • No queues (reserved equipment)
  • Plenty of parking space

Cons

  • Not ideal for runners or cardio fans

Very Motivating

“I’ve never been into the gym before, but this place honestly made it easy to get started. The space is clean, well-equipped, and never overcrowded thanks to their booking system—you just reserve your slot and everything’s ready for you. The atmosphere is super welcoming, and the energy is always great. Special shoutout to Coach Conor, Jey, and Joseph—each of them brings something  unique and motivating to the sessions. Couldn’t ask for a better place to work out!”

-Ms. Akshaya M B, Google Review

Incredible Results

“Hench has the perfect mix of a Personalised Training Programme without the costs of a personal trainer. All of the coaches I’ve worked with, Jay, Joe, Conor and Bronagh, are incredible at what they do. With only three sessions a week, I saw incredible results after a month. With very little, to no, gym experience beforehand..”
