We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

We think these 5 dance studios in Belfast are worth the cramps!

  • Quality of Service: We selected dance studios with skilled instructors who can provide a supportive environment with an organised structure and personalised guidance.
  • Professionalism: The dance teachers should be punctual, respectful, and reliable to create a pleasant and productive environment for students.
  • Communication: It’s important for us that the dance coaches are easy to talk to during lessons and outside the studio. They should be approachable, responsive, and considerate.
  • Range of Services: We prefer dance hubs offering a wide array of classes, like ballet, hip-hop, ballroom, jazz, and contemporary, as well as private lessons and fitness workshops.
  • Studios and Equipment: The studios must be spacious with adequate equipment, such as mirrors, sound systems, sprung floors, ballet barres (stationary handrails), and others, for more effective and efficient classes.
  • Accessibility: Our priorities included the dance studios having a central location, ample parking space, and transport access, as well as wheelchair-friendly amenities if possible.
  • Value for Money: We chose dance spaces with affordable rates. Otherwise, they must have reasonable package deals and flexible memberships.

Don’t like dealing with dance classes with costly fees, overcrowded spaces, or unfriendly teachers? Yeah, I get it. I barely get any free time, and I’d hate to spend it in a not-so-satisfying environment when all I want is to destress.

Good for you, I’ve always been into the performance arts and have tried a bunch of dance hubs to treat the frustrated dancer in me. Now, I even join the classes with my nieces so they can take a break from school too.

So whether you’re a working professional looking for a fun hobby or a parent searching for safe dance schools for kids, we’ve found the best dance studios in Belfast below.

How much do dance studios charge in Belfast?

Dance studios in Belfast will set you back between £40 and £90 per hour, depending on the hourly rate, studio features, and booking duration.

Social Dance Academy Belfast (SDAB) is a dance studio in Belfast that offers Afro-Latin partner dance styles, such as salsa (LA-style, lively Latin dance), bachata (Dominican Republic social dance), and kizomba (Angolan party dance).

It’s great for us that the vibe here is known to be lively, inclusive, and beginner-friendly, with the students rotating partners in class.

We also find it handy that you don’t need a membership. The studio runs drop-in, pay-as-you-go classes that anyone can easily take.

Besides the single and double classes, you can go for an intro pack of 5 classes to see if you want to commit to the lessons longer.

There are Thursday evening classes for those who can join in the middle of the week. Otherwise, there are some weekend schedules too.

However, we noticed that the private lessons can be quite expensive. This might be less accessible for those on a tighter budget.

Pros

  • Small-group focus
  • Flexible, pay-as-you-go classes
  • Weekend and evening availability

Cons

  • Pricey private lessons

Dansa provides one of the most comprehensive dance classes in Belfast. You can explore anything from classical ballet and jazz to hip-hop, tap, acrobatic, and adult dance—something for kids (from 2.5 years old) and adults!

It’s incredible that there are 2 studios here with professional amenities.

The first studio has mirrors, a sound system, free-standing barres (stationary handrails), tumbling mats, and laminate floors. The second one has the same amenities, except for a sprung (Le Mark) floor ideal for acrobatics and dance workshops.

Should you be a recreational or aspiring professional, there are vocational accreditation and exam opportunities too.

And if you’re interested, many would love the annual showcases and performances with the community—some healthy competition over here.

But while this studio provides Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday classes, it doesn’t have Sunday classes, making them less accessible for those with weekday commitments.

    Pros

    • Caters to every age group
    • 2 purpose-built spaces
    • Structured progression with certification
    • Strong community presence

    Cons

    • No Sunday classes

Clarke’s Dance Studios in Belfast is worth considering if you’re looking for many fun dance classes. There are ballroom and Latin dances, like tango, cha-cha, jive, and sequence, as well as K-pop and hip-hop classes for kids and kids at heart.

It’s also the longest-standing dance hub in the city with deep-rooted community trust. Since it’s been around since 1958, we think it’s practically a living heritage with lots of loyal students!

Moreover, we’re impressed with its polished and professional vibe, having sprung floors, good lighting, and a decent sound system, as well as viewing areas.

What’s more, we appreciate its convenient scheduling—it runs classes across weekday evenings and Saturdays.

Just one thing, though. Some of its classes require reservations via WhatsApp the day before. In our opinion, this process could still be improved, especially for beginners who’d prefer something more structured.

      Pros

      • Rich legacy and reputation
      • Diverse offerings (traditional to K-pop)
      • Quality studio environment
      • Flexible scheduling

      Cons

      • Informal WhatsApp booking process

“For those wanting to learn or improve their ballroom skills, Alan teaches beginners and more advanced classes. It’s fun, good exercise and a great way to make new friends. You can go as a couple or as a single. Couples get to stay together and learn to dance together.”

Irish Dancing for Adults brings back the céilí tradition (traditional Gaelic social gathering) in Belfast with classes for all skill levels.

Its instructors were also trained from childhood with strong ties to reputable Irish dancing schools, so you know they’re a great fit for the job.

For us, its classes are perfect for tourists wishing to know more about the country’s culture or locals wanting to be in touch with their fun traditions.

We appreciate that it provides an inclusive social environment too. The classes mix people from 18 to over 80, so you can meet many interesting people.

In addition, we love that the studio holds performances for corporate and charity events. The way we see it, this can make dancing here even more fulfilling since you’re doing it for a good cause.

Still, its classes are offered only 2 evenings per week. There are also no daytime or weekend options for more flexibility.

        Pros

        • Inclusive for all ages
        • Great cultural depth
        • Charity engagement

        Cons

        • Limited scheduling

          Had the Best Time

“We booked a 1 hour dance class for our hen party which took place in McHughs, Belfast. Ethan and Eimhear, our dance teachers did not disappoint and we had the best time with them learning some dance moves that we could use later on that night. Would highly recommend!”

Want to try a new kind of exercise? Wings Pole Studio keeps things interesting with its pole fitness classes, empowering women of all fitness levels and backgrounds. We love that it’s known to be especially inclusive for mums as well.

We find the setting here welcoming and intimate, as it’s typically well-lit and private to ensure a comfortable experience for all.

It’s also great for us that the class times are very flexible. It offers classes every day, except Wednesdays.

And if you like it here, you can book the studio for events, like birthdays, hen parties, or other celebrations. We find the packages very creative as they mix pole, yoga, aerial hoop, and silks for a memorable experience.

The only drawback for us is the small studio size, which can feel cramped if class sizes become larger than usual.

          Pros

          • Uplifting, body-positive environment
          • Available classes 6 days a week
          • Can be booked for events

            The Best and Loveliest Instructors

“Wow, wow, wow!  What can I say? It’s the most amazing studio with the best and loveliest instructors and members! ❤️ I’ve been with Wings for almost a year, and as a mummy of five, it’s honestly the best decision I’ve ever made for myself. I’ve gained strength, fallen in love with my body again and its capabilities, and found an amazing community of strong, supportive women, as well as some lifelong “pole sisters.” 🫶 Pole is for everyone! You don’t need to be anything to start. You just need to book your classes and keep showing up. You will not regret it 🦋❤️”

            Most Amazing, Empowering Community

“Wings is the most amazing, empowering community to be a part of, from the instructors to the girls in your class you will never be short of support and encouragement.”
