The 5 Best Cupcakes in Belfast Worth Every Crumb

Taste and Texture – We checked for real butter, real flavor, and that perfect frosting-to-sponge ratio.

Variety and Creativity – We wanted bakers that experiment without losing the classics. Bonus points for seasonal or themed designs.

Presentation and Consistency – We chose cupcake bakers where the cupcakes are not only freshly baked, but also look good together.

Value for Money – We factored in whether each cupcake was worth its (often) price tag, taking into consideration portion size and freshness.

Some people crave cookies. Others can’t resist brownies. For me, it’s cupcakes every time. There’s just something about peeling back the paper case, taking that first bite of fluffy sponge and buttercream, and pretending it’s a perfectly reasonable lunch.

In Belfast, cupcakes are crafted. The city has a surprising number of spots that take these tiny treats seriously, from cozy family bakeries to glossy dessert bars that make each cupcake look like it belongs on a magazine cover.

So if you’re looking for a birthday dozen, wedding towers, or just stocking up the sweet treats section in your refrigerator, here’s where to find the city’s best.

Lily Pink Bakery is the kind of place that makes you smile the second you walk in. The shelves gleam with pastel-topped cupcakes that look straight out of a tea-party dream.

Their red velvet is famous, but the lemon meringue cupcake is a star: a fluffy sponge, a swirl of lemon curd, and a golden-torched meringue that’s both tart and sweet. You can order boxes of six or twelve online, with local delivery that usually arrives right on schedule.

They’re also great for themed events. Try to visualize unicorn cupcakes for birthdays or mini-champagne ones for hen parties. The only drawback is their popularity. Weekends get hectic and if you don’t order early, you’ll be left drooling over their Instagram instead.

Pros

  • Whimsical designs and seasonal themes
  • Dependable delivery service

Cons

  • Needs pre-ordering on busy days
  • Slightly higher price for custom boxes

I had a scrumptious chocolate orange cupcake!

I have my wonderful work colleague Ryan M (who is not on Yelp yet – but we’re working on it!) to thank for introducing me to Lily Pink Bakery. He treated us all yesterday by bringing a box of delicious goodies into our office. I had a scrumptious chocolate orange cupcake which was luscious. Colleague and cupcake perfection!

Delicious and extremely reasonable prices.

Had a gorgeous cookie butter cupcake from the lily pink bakery stall at Queens University…..delicious and extremely reasonable prices!! Highly recommended.

2. Rhiannon’s Cakes and Bakes

Operating Hours: Monday to Thursday (9:30 AM to 8 PM), Friday to Saturday (9:30 AM to 6 PM)

Rhiannon’s Cakes and Bakes is calm, dependable, and effortlessly good at what they do. Rhiannon is known around Belfast for her cupcakes that actually taste homemade, not mass-produced. The sponges are pillowy, the frosting is silky, and every bite has that comforting, buttery warmth you only get when something’s made from scratch.

Her vanilla and chocolate cupcakes are classics, but she’s also known for her floral and pastel designs that look almost too delicate to eat. Each one is perfectly balanced.

Because it’s a small, home-based bakery, everything is baked to order. That means no day-old cupcakes sitting around, but it also means you’ll need to plan ahead. Orders fill up quickly, especially on weekends or around holidays.

Pros

  • Fresh, made-to-order cupcakes
  • Lovely handmade decorations

Cons

  • Pre-order required (no walk-ins)
  • Limited daily capacity

Communication is great and staff are very friendly.

Ordered some birthday cupcakes and was kindly given 2 extra, which were beautifully presented in a box with a ribbon. Communication is great and the staff are very friendly. 10/10 highly recommend!

Operating Hours: Sunday (9 AM to 1 PM), Monday to Saturday (9 AM to 6 PM)

If you’re into bold flavors and stunning design, Bakes by Vita is where you’ll find cupcakes that double as statement pieces. Every cupcake looks like it came straight from Pinterest—vivid colors, intricate piping, and flavor pairings that sound risky but absolutely work.

Vita’s cupcakes are all about texture. Her chocolate hazelnut cupcakes have a gooey center, her lemon ones come with a zesty curd, and her caramel swirl cupcakes are the kind you think about days later. There’s a clear attention to detail here.

She’s also known for being incredibly accommodating. Vegan, gluten-free, or “no nuts, please”? She’ll work with you. Her only flaw is that perfection takes time. Orders need at least 48 hours’ notice, and you’ll want to collect early if you’re planning a big event.

Pros

  • Creative flavor combinations and fillings
  • Inclusive options (vegan, gluten-free, allergen-conscious)

Cons

  • Requires advance ordering
  • Premium pricing for custom designs

The cupcakes looked and tasted absolutely heavenly.

We contacted Vita to supply cupcakes for our conference in Belfast. From the outset, Vita was responsive and collaborative through email, providing excellent service. The range of flavours, her help with decoration options and her dedication was phenomenal. The cupcakes looked and tasted absolutely heavenly. The whole process was so easy from start to finish. Could not recommend Vita higher – you will not regret contacting her. I look forward to working with Vita again.

The cupcakes looked fab and tasted delicious.

Ordered custom cupcakes for a birthday pretty last min and was thrilled with them! They looked fab and tasted delicious. Husband commented on how nice the icing was. Definitely recommend and would use again.

If you’ve ever wanted to eat flowers, Reaville Cupcake Bouquets is your answer. Seriously. These cupcakes are arranged to look like flower bouquets, complete with “petal” piping so realistic that people often hesitate to bite into them.

They’re one of Belfast’s most unique cupcake services, perfect for birthdays, Mother’s Day, or thank-you gifts. Each bouquet comes with a mix of flavors: vanilla, lemon, chocolate, and red velvet are regulars—all baked fresh to order.

The artistry is stunning, but the real surprise is that they taste as good as they look. The frosting is whipped and buttery without being heavy and the sponge stays soft even after delivery. The packaging is sturdy and elegant, which makes it a favorite for gifting.

The only downside is you’ll need to handle them carefully, especially if transporting them yourself.

Pros

  • Beautiful, realistic cupcake bouquets
  • Great as gifts for any occasion
  • Balanced flavors and textures

Cons

  • Fragile arrangement (handle with care)
  • Limited flavor customization for bouquet sets

Beautiful cupcakes.

Reaville Cupcake Bouquets made some bridal themed cupcakes for my wedding dinner. They also kindly provided cake stands for the day. Beautiful cupcakes. And beautiful people to deal with. Thank you Jacqui and Olivia.

The cupcakes are so realistic and so beautiful.

The cupcakes are SO realistic, and so beautiful. What a skill. I was blown away. They’re not style over substance, either. The sponge is light and perfect, and the icing is delicious and such a wonderful consistency. 10/10. Will absolutely be buying again. Thank you!

5. Roy’s Home Bakery

roy-s-home-bakery

Address: 3 Kings Square, Castlereagh, Belfast BT5 7EA, United Kingdom

Contact Details: +44 28 9079 4863

Operating Hours: Daily except Sundays (8 AM to 4:30 PM)

Roy’s Home Bakery is one of those family-run places that’s been quietly feeding Belfast’s sweet tooth for decades. You can smell the butter and sugar from down the street. Their cupcakes aren’t fancy, but they’re comfort food incarnate.

Expect soft vanilla bases with whipped buttercream piled high, sometimes with a cherry or sprinkles on top– old-school and proud of it. Their chocolate fudge cupcake is especially rich, perfect with a cup of tea on a rainy afternoon.

What sets Roy’s apart is consistency. Every cupcake tastes the same in the best way possible. Their prices are also refreshingly modest. The downside (if any) is that they keep things traditional. If you’re after fondant roses or edible glitter, this isn’t your stop.

Pros

  • Consistently good, traditional cupcakes
  • Friendly, small-town atmosphere
  • Budget-friendly prices

Cons

  • No fancy designs or modern trends
  • Limited customization options

Reasonably priced and lovely staff.

Yummy goodies, especially their fresh creams and cupcakes. Reasonably priced and lovely staff that get to know the regulars. We go each week for our treats!

I have been a loyal customer for 20 years.

This is the best bakery in Belfast. I have been a loyal customer for 20 odd years. The consistent quality of produce and service front and back of house has never faltered ever and the good value pricing ensures a reliable and honest relationship with every customer.
