The 5 Best Catering Services in Belfast for Stress-Free Events

Food Quality and Taste – We focused on caterers who use quality local ingredients and serve dishes that hold up well during events

Service and Reliability – We looked for teams known for punctual setups, smooth communication, and dependable coordination on event days.

Menu Variety and Flexibility – We chose providers that can tailor menus for all kinds of guests – whether it’s vegan canapes, gluten-free desserts, or themed buffets.

Value for Money – We compared serving sizes, ingredient quality, and delivery/setup inclusions to ensure you’re getting genuine value.

Planning an event in Belfast sounds fun – until you realize you’ve spent two hours trying to figure out if 50 people will eat more sausage rolls or sandwiches. From weddings, work conferences, family reunions, one thing’s always true: the food can make or break it.

That’s where Belfast’s catering scene shines. The city’s kitchens are full of people who understand how to feed crowds well. Some have fine-dining chefs turned event specialists, while others run family-owned businesses that know how to stretch a buffet without sacrificing flavor.

We sampled, surveyed, and spoke to customers across the city to find catering teams that actually deliver– on time, with food that’s memorable for the right reasons.

Posh Nosh has been catering Belfast’s biggest events for over 30 years, and their reputation holds up for good reason. They combine restaurant-level food with event-scale logistics… something not every caterer can pull off.

Their signature dishes, like honey-glazed ham with mustard jus and vegetarian risotto with truffle oil, are both flavorful and well-balanced.

The canapes are particularly popular. These are tiny bites that look like art pieces but actually taste like high-quality food.

Their team’s professionalism stands out too. Servers are discreet, efficient, and genuinely pleasant to deal with.

That said, smaller private clients sometimes mention that Posh Nosh’s packages can feel more formal and less flexible compared to boutique caterers. Still, if you’re hosting something high-end, they’re as dependable as it gets.

Pros

  • Sophisticated, restaurant-quality menus
  • Polished staff and seamless coordination

Cons

  • Less suited for small gatherings
  • Slightly higher minimum spend

Everyone kept saying it was the best [wedding] food they ever had

We used Posh Nosh all day for our catering at Tullyveery and I could not recommend them more! Charlotte and the team were so helpful, extremely easy to communicate with and so professional. The whole team were so friendly and made all our guests feel looked after. Everyone kept saying it was the best wedding food they had ever had- we couldn’t agree more! Thank you Posh Nosh!

The Posh Nosh team were great at adapting in lots of ways

Our black-tie gala dinner for 150 people was honestly wonderful, everything went so well! The Posh Nosh team were great at adapting in lots of ways: when one of the speeches went on far longer than planned, spotting all the attendees with dietary requirements and making sure they were sorted, catering for one more vegetarian than planned, etc. Chloe was so helpful on the night and kept everything running smoothly.

We would absolutely recommend Posh Nosh to anyone looking for stress-free catering.

There’s something primal and satisfying about a perfectly cooked roast—and Challas Roast has turned that feeling into an art form.

Specializing in hog roasts and carveries, this Belfast favorite has built its reputation on the scent of slow-cooked meat wafting through outdoor events. They show up with professional roasting rigs, carve on-site, and serve portions big enough to keep even the hungriest guests quiet for a while.

The menu can be customized to include sides like garlic potatoes, roasted veggies, and rich gravy that people will literally  queue for twice.

While it’s not the right fit for a formal ballroom event, it’s perfect for rustic weddings, festivals, and outdoor gatherings where you want good vibes, full bellies, and guests taking second helpings.

Pros

  • Incredible roast meats
  • Generous servings

Cons

  • Not suitable for indoor or formal venues
  • Weather-dependent setup

The food was delicious, plentiful.

Charl prepared the food for our joint 40th birthday party and we were delighted with the service provided: the food was delicious, plentiful, the meat tender and the sauces fresh and appetising. He arrived in plenty of time to set up and was friendly and packaged up all our leftovers to be enjoyed afterwards. Highly recommend for a stress free catering solution and something a bit different.

They’re worth every penny

Challas… Charl…What can I say our wedding at the weekend was fantastic and your food and service was a huge part of that. I’ve had so many people ask about you and your team. The care you took with the meats. The flavour of the salads. I’ve had so many people positively critique broccoli…. Something I never thought I’d write in print. To anyone reading this, genuinely they’re worth every penny and I would highly recommend!

If you’re looking for the kind of caterer who can feed a crowd and handle the stress that comes with it, Bobby’s Catering and Events is your lifesaver.

They’re known across Belfast for big, well-organized events. Imagine weddings, fundraisers, and corporate galas where precision matters as much as flavor. Their menus balance hearty local fare with classic favorites: roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, creamy mashed potatoes, and pavlova that’s so light you’ll question physics.

What makes Bobby’s stand out is their consistency. Everything arrives hot, portions are generous, and the staff are calm even when timelines get wild.

On the flip side, they’re not the go-to for experimental cuisine. The focus here is on crowd-pleasers and reliable classics. But when you need things to run like clockwork, and taste like home, they’re unbeatable.

Pros

  • Excellent organization
  • Hearty local dishes

Cons

  • Less adventurous menus
  • Best for traditional-style events
