We got wind-swept by these 6 cool rooftop bars in Belfast!

As a food guru, I’ve already taken my friends to loads of dining spots in the city. The problem is that some places start to feel repetitive after a while. So if we’re going out, we’ve gotten much pickier and added more requirements to our foodie list.

Besides offering delicious food, these restaurants need to provide stunning scenery. And where do you think you can find that? In terrace pubs, of course! We thought it’d be too chilly to stay in one, so we once arrived wearing, like, four layers. Big mistake.

Turns out, there are heaters in most of them! Even if you accidentally spill ketchup on your shirt or end up with tousled hair, we still think swinging by these rooftop bars in Belfast below is worth it. Check them out!

Which dining spots offer a rooftop and booze in Belfast?

There are a bunch of dining spots offering a rooftop and booze in Belfast! Swing by The Perch, Tetto, The Treehouse, and The Observatory at Grand Central Hotel and paint the town red with friends and loved ones.

If you want a playful rooftop bar in Belfast, we say swing by The Perch! It’s a converted Victorian warehouse providing a chill spot for pizza and booze.

It also offers a garden-party vibe with its colourful decor, such as fairy lights and all things floral. What’s more, we love its retractable roof and heaters to keep patrons comfortable.

Food-wise, we reckon you’ll like the signature wood-fired pizzas—our favourite is the honey chilli chicken pizza! Plus, we think this goes well with the classic and quirky cocktails, like the Redwing Sour (with Irish whiskey, pear syrup, and fresh citrus).

Pro tips:

We recommend asking about the seasonal cocktails at The Perch! They rotate frequently, and we bet you can use a delightful surprise booze now and then.

Love music? We suggest stopping by on Fridays and Saturdays, where there are DJs here urging you to dance this special night away.

Those looking for a modern and sophisticated rooftop spot might like Tetto. It’s got an indoor and outdoor space with heaters, trendy decor, and DJ sets for a fun vibe.

We also reckon you’ll love the menu inspired by Italy’s best. This includes small plates like burrata (Italian cow’s milk cheese) and house-made pasta like Tetto lasagne (wide strips) with slow-cooked beef shin or shellfish risotto (rice dish) with tiger prawns.

We also like sipping on spritzes (like the bitter peach purée) while you look at partial city views during golden hours. Though if you want a good pick-me-up drink, we recommend getting the espresso martini.

Cool idea:

We encourage checking Bullitt Hotel’s event calendar—you don’t want to miss out on Tetto’s themed nights! This is where you can doll up and show off that new dress or pants!

The Treehouse

Going on a date? The Treehouse is a treat for the romantics with its hanging plants and lanterns that ooze a whimsical, boho-luxe decor. We also think its enclosed terrace is very Instagram-worthy with the fairy lights—you’ll feel warm with the heaters too!

The French-Irish cuisine is a hit for us too. Our top picks are the duck confit (slow-cooked) and seafood risotto. We also love the bottomless brunches and cocktails like Negroni Sbagliato (a twist on the classic Negroni using Prosecco instead of gin).

Do note that this place seems more intimate than party-centric. In our opinion, this rooftop bar isn’t suitable for a bigger crew.

Friendly reminder:

We say layer up, even during summer at The Treehouse! Though its terrace is partially enclosed, Belfast’s weather can still be unpredictable. In our opinion, a light jacket or wrap can be pretty handy if you’re going to stay long.

The Observatory at Grand Central Hotel

Those searching for an ultra-refined experience, The Observatory at Grand Central Hotel has the tallest bar in Ireland!

Think floor-to-ceiling glass walls, fine wines and champagnes, and a semi-formal dress code to match the elegant atmosphere. We’re also in awe of the panoramic views of the city and beyond!

Our favourite premium signature cocktails include the Golden Mile (with vodka, Observatory passionfruit, mango cordial, pineapple, and lime) and White Star (with Irish whiskey, white chocolate, orange, and black walnut bitters).

Insider scoop:

We recommend booking a window table weeks in advance. The spots closest to the stunning scenery fill fast. If you’re splurging, we say do it right and make the most of everything here!

While you’re at it, why not request a specific view when reserving your spot? Whether you want to catch the Mourne Mountains, Titanic Quarter, or the Albert Memorial Clock, all you have to do is ask—it’s especially great if you’re polite and early.

Should you want to visit France for a classy afternoon tea, Parisien is the brasserie (an informal French cafe) with a fancy terrace to consider. We think Paris enthusiasts will like its Eiffel Tower vibes, given that its glass terrace conveniently overlooks City Hall.

We suggest grabbing some tasty European cuisine, such as steak frites (fries) and moules marinières (sailor-style or wine-steamed mussels). For sweets, we recommend the classic and indulgent crème brûlée (egg custard with burnt sugar).

Solid date idea:

We think Parisien is a cool pre-theatre spot, so why not book a ticket to The Grand Opera or SSE Arena before or after dinner? Of course, we feel it’s best to dine here after watching a performance, so you won’t be pressed for time.

Lavery’s

Just want a few beers and call it a day? Lavery’s has a chill and vibrant sports bar for you! It offers a multi-level venue with a beer garden, and we think this is great for sports enthusiasts, especially with the screens and heaters.

Of course, you can make the most of the night with the scrumptious pub grub. This includes burgers, loaded fries, and nachos with pulled pork, as well as a bunch of Guinness pints or local beer. Or if you need a kick, we say go for the spicy Margarita!

And while there are limited views around, we think this spot goes big on the loud crowd energy—especially during a football match.

Expert advice:

Is it a big sports night at Lavery’s? We say get in here at least an hour early before kickoff. The rooftop screens are in demand whenever a rugby or football match is on. Should you want a good seat with clear views, it’s best to settle in early.
